This page is dedicated to speedcubers who train hard and spend many weekends traveling to try to break records, their own record first! The scores summarize actual performances reported worldwide. Every cuber is respected for their willpower and the hard work they put in to achieve their goals, regardless of their results.
How are the scores calculated?
For each category, the scores are obtained using a calculation that takes into account:
- The best AVG* and Single* time compared to the best world times,
- The ranking on the World Cube Association website, compared to the number of participants worldwide for each event,
- Current titles (1st places, national, continental, world records, national, continental, or world championship wins and podiums),
- Past performances (records).
This result reflects the cuber's overall performance, including "time, ranking, title, and record." This puts the very good level around 70 out of 100, the high level around 80, the world top is close to or exceeds 90. The highest score calculated today is 95/100 (Max Park at 4x4, 5x5, 6x6).

He started solving Rubik's Cubes in 2010 through the national competition between schools and colleges (Inter-Rubik) and continued with the French championships the same year.
Abdelhak regularly accumulates podiums and French records and is often in the finals of international competitions in the large cube category. His record is exceptional. He is also among the best in other categories; he is a top speedcuber.

"I started in high school by chance, I think a girl in my class brought a cube home once; I learned on Francocube with my brother then left it aside during my prep. And in 2014 (5 years later) I discovered the world of competitions.
I like a lot of things about the cube of course, between the meetings through competitions, the possibility of visiting new cities or regions, the atmosphere.
Then at the level of the cube itself, of course there is the aspect of the challenge which almost never ends.
And finally in BLD there is a notion of failure and perseverance which is I think even more important than in the other events, so when the successes are there it adds a a dose of satisfaction, pride, surprise or relief sometimes 😆.

He solved his first cube in 6th grade but remained at a level around one minute for a long time, due to a lack of knowledge.
It was at the end of 1st year that he picked up the cube again and tried to correct his bad habits.
"I was still doing a mix of fingertricks and wrist turns* even though I knew a lot of OLLs (which I actually had to relearn), which isn't logical at all. I was also doing the left cross and a mix of left F2Ls and normal F2Ls.
Then the rest of my journey is more logical: first competition, progression, and I diversified.
What I like most about the cube is pushing myself, I find it very stimulating to train to progress.
And then there's also the diversity of the events which means you never get bored, you always have something that matches your mood at the time (for example, sometimes I don't want to do a 3x3 session because It's tiring and I want to relax a bit, so I do FM).
"I don't really want to put pressure on myself with goals, even though I'd like to win the FM at the French championships. And progress in 5x5/mega, which I've neglected a bit because I'm stagnating."
"I recently taught a 12-year-old to cube, so I've already had some experience giving advice. You have to get into good habits quickly: being color neutral (I still can't do it myself, I waited too long), doing good finger tricks, and doing the cross at the bottom.

Ten years ago, his grandmother gave him one during a trip so he wouldn't get bored on the plane.
"I learned how to remake it with videos on the internet and I continued to do it alone in my room in Indonesia.
I quickly became interested in all the other strange cubes that were available; for a long time, my favorite puzzle was the Pyraminx Gear. I started to take an interest in the cube at the age of 12 when a classmate arrived one day with a Rubik's cube.
"I started playing the cube at the age of 12, in 6th grade, when one of the students in my class brought a Rubik's cube to school. I quickly took to it, and I almost immediately immersed myself in the world of competitions, with my first competition only 6 months after learning to solve one. I really like the satisfaction of solving the cube in a different way each time, and every day I discover new ways to optimize steps, which is very motivating."
"Today I have much less time to train, but I still intend to compete to push myself and continue to challenge the podiums. I often say that my "prime" level is over, but that doesn't mean I won't continue to give it my all in the final to reach the podiums."
"The important thing at the very beginning is to be comfortable with what you've learned. I think you shouldn't rush things by trying to learn as many algorithms as possible, but rather make sure that the algorithms you already know are well implemented in the solutions. And once that's done, you can start learning new algorithms! And for cubers who want to progress, I especially recommend working on weaknesses by filming yourself and then analyzing the solutions and weak points (pauses, blocks, etc.). This allows you to target what needs to be worked on and makes training more fun."

Started the Rubik's cube, and speedcubing at the same time, precisely on April 24, 2019, buying my first cube in a FNAC in Lisbon!
"I was bored and I was tempted by the appeal of this famous puzzle, and the resulting challenge of solving it. After which I learned how to do it thanks to a video on the internet in about 1 hour. I did it throughout the trip and it gradually started to become addictive....
...I also started watching videos, the first one I saw was the old world record of Feliks Zemdegs with his 4.73s (see here). I was impressed and I set myself the goal of one day achieving a time like that, time will have been right in front of my expectations because 3 years later, my record today is exactly 4.73 seconds.
Once back in France, I started to learn advanced methods in my corner, until one day, while I was quietly cubing, someone came to tell me about a speedcubing club in Pau. So I went there and that's where the adventure really began. I met lots of wonderful people including Quentin Rivault, who became a very close friend and who was my "mentor" in the rest of my learning. I then started competing and broke the 10-second mark in about a year at 3x3. Today, almost 4 years later, I train much less than before, but I understood that what matters is not just the performances but especially the moments of sharing during these competition weekends, with all my friends together.
And I thank the Rubik's cube for allowing me to meet all these people, we all belong to the same universe and that's what makes us understand each other so well. For all these moments of victory, pride, and sharing, I am happy to have one day bought this Rubik's cube in this FNAC in Lisbon."

"For someone who is starting out, it would initially be to have fun solving it again and again. This is what will determine whether or not you want to progress later on. The primary goal is obviously to enjoy solving the cube. With the beginner method, a beginner speedcuber can go below a minute, or at least close to it, and it is generally at this point that two things will be important for the future:
Change cube. Generally, at this level, we are probably still using a basic Rubik's cube, and it is preferable to take a better quality cube (without going for the best cubes on the market, it is not really useful at this level. It is not the cube that determines your level, but it will help you for the rest of your learning, and it will be much more enjoyable for you to practice with a cube that is more fun to turn).
Then, change method, everyone will tell you, it's essential to change your method to progress, and continue to discover lots of things about the Rubik's cube. We can therefore start learning Fridrich Simplified, different tutorials are available on YouTube, notably that of Victor Colin which is very nice. (see here)
And finally, my advice for a less beginner cuber would be to go to competitions, meet other cubers who can help you in your learning. The more we progress, the more the errors depend on each individual, and that's why meeting stronger people will make these The latter will be able to see your mistakes and help you correct them. Competitions are also great motivators and great times, so don't hesitate."

"I grew up with a Rubik's cube in my hand in the early 80s. My older brother and I would solve one side but we couldn't go any further. The internet didn't exist at the time. A friend taught me how to solve it in my final year of high school (1997).
In 2009, while doing my Christmas shopping, I came across a 4x4 and I said to myself, "I should be able to solve it since I know how to do 3x3." Well, no, I couldn't. So I looked for the solution online, discovered the francocube website and the world of speedcubing!"
"It was love at first sight, I became totally hooked and started learning Fridrich. It was also at this time that I started a club within my school to teach CM1/CM2 students how to solve the cube. This would completely change my way of teaching.
The interRubik allowed me to meet Thomas Watiotienne (French OH champion) who taught me a lot of things and brought me to my first competitions (French championships in 2011 and 2012 in particular, and yes, I have one of the oldest IDs on the current speedcubing scene)
The arrival of Atoutcubes would be a real turning point because I was very much alone cubing in the southwest before that. With him, we became friends, organized competitions and it really motivated me. My club is re-energized and becomes a double French InterRubik 2024 champion.
I like the repetitive side of training, we mix, we solve, we mix and so on. The cube clears my head and allows me to stop thinking and that's so comfortable. I'm also a fan of the object itself, which I find beautiful and soothing.
I like competitions and the atmosphere in the cube world. As a regular at competitions (French Bodyboard champion), there is an atmosphere of mutual support, kindness and respect for others that is unique in the world of speedcubing.

"I got into the cube because an au pair girl knew how to solve it and taught me when I was 14, but I didn't look for speed for a long time, it was just an extra skill that I had acquired. At only 7 years old, he received a Rubik's cube for Christmas. As time went by, he learned and trained to arrive at his first competition at the 2016 Opal Open at the age of 10, where he discovered the world of speedcubing.
What I like about the Rubik's cube is the repetition of solving the same puzzles. As you practice, you have a closer and closer relationship with the puzzle: you learn new algorithms, you know how to save time on F2Ls, you understand the mechanisms behind the methods.

"I would tell a beginner to play with the Rubik's cube. It's the best way to progress. You have to try to get passionate about the mechanisms of the cube, to find different ways to "see" an algorithm[1]. Learning F2L becomes like discovering a new sense!
For those who are less beginners, I would advise remembering that "in speedcubing, everything you do, you have to know how to do it at the same speed blindfolded." Learning to do one-look cross, cross+1, or multislotting is only effective if you can do it at the same speed blindfolded.

"For any cuber who wants to progress, having fun is essential. Otherwise, for any level, you just have to try to progress (easier said than done, of course). Ask yourself the question "what would make me faster?" even if it's only a little. Valentin starts at high school learning that a Rubik's Cube club had existed for years without him knowing.
"I hadn't heard of it yet, otherwise I probably would have started earlier. My little sister managed to finish it for the first time before me, and I saw it as a challenge (there's no way she could do it and not me!).
"Then I continued to train and progress with the desire to always improve and beat my records, and after several participations in the Inter Rubik in Phalsbourg, I participated in my first competition in Paris in 2011 when I was already sub20. I met people there who became friends like Jules Desjardin, Rémi Esturoune and Abdelhak Kaddour!
I watched live the NR of Kanneti Sae Han who won with an average time of 8.87s, a new French record (the single was at 7.40s).
Since then, I have had the opportunity to continue competing, to travel thanks to this passion, to organize some as well, and I even had the chance to beat this famous French 3x3 record at home 10 years ago now with a time of 6.90s (first French sub7 and -0.50s compared to the old record) of Kanneti).
I now try to continue to have fun while allowing the new generation to grow by passing on my experience.
What I like about Speedcubing is that everyone at our own level tries to improve with the same motivation and desire that unites us and which gives this sport (yes I say it) a healthy side where people help each other to go as fast as possible!

"I would tell a beginner cuber not to learn too many algorithms and to understand what is happening on the cube. I would take this opportunity to tell them to start with any face so as not to fall into a habitual pattern and open up many possibilities.
For an intermediate or expert, it all depends on their level, but mastering the basics (even for me) remains essential, so Croix+F2L is a priority, with useful algorithm sets like COLL after having mastered OLL and PLL (or even knowing several algorithms for certain cases, paying attention to their effectiveness in terms of fingertricks).
The number of resources on YouTube, for example, has continued to increase, and it is even easier today to find videos that allow you to progress even faster than it was back then, without a doubt."

"I started playing the cube in July 2012, during the summer holidays between my ninth and tenth grades.
It started from nothing: a cube lying around in a drawer, the desire to know how to solve it, and a YouTube tutorial!
In a few months, I realized that there were better cubes, better methods, and even competitions. I quickly got into the game and found myself at the top of the rankings in a few disciplines, which motivated me to go further.

Due to significant pain in the joints of my ring finger, I can no longer train in the discipline that propelled me to the best level in the world, OH. But I intend to continue to enjoy the level I reached in OH for a long time to come, which still allows me to reach the podiums and even sometimes first places today.
However, my main current goal is not the WCA competitions, but the Inter-Rubik (the French inter-school championship).
As a middle school teacher, I take immense pleasure in running a Rubik's Cube club and monitoring my students' progress. I hope to one day win the title of French Inter-Rubik champions with them."

"In 2018, I saw my sister's boyfriend solve a Rubik's Cube. I was intrigued and asked him to teach me how to solve it. I managed to learn the solution in a few days, and within a few months, I was able to solve it in under a minute.
I participated in my first competition in November 2019, the Italian Championships. To improve, in the early years, I watched many tutorials on YouTube and met more and more friends at cube competitions with whom I exchanged tips and techniques.
At my second competition, held in Bologna in 2021, I averaged around ten seconds. As of today, my global average is 6–7 seconds."
"In the short term, I aim for a sub-5 single in the 3x3 cube, a sub-20 single, and a sub-24 average in the 4x4 cube. I also want to improve in the 5x5 and 6x6 cubes.
Long-term goals include achieving a sub-6 average and a sub-4 single in the 3x3, a sub-22 average and a sub-18 single in the 4x4, and consistently recording results as a top player (Top 25) in the world rankings for the 4x4 cube. I'd also like to set a national record in other big cubes."

"I bought my first Rubik's cube in a shop with my mom when I was 10, but I wasn't interested so I put it on a shelf. About a year later I decided to learn how to solve it, and I later discovered that there were competitions all around the world. Because of that, by the end of 2018 I started practicing and in April 2019 I attended my first competition, in Italy. This passion got bigger and bigger, as I was improving quickly not only in 3x3, but also in other events. A few years later I was able to set my first NR (5x5) and won the event at the Italian Championships 2024 (including several different podiums)."

"About my cube story there isn't so much to say, i started competing in 2021, in 2022 i got my first podiums and i partecipated to the european championship where I got the first sub10 avg on 3x3 and then i've never stopped practicing and improving.
